At B Boards, we specialise in crafting wooden paddleboards. Our journey began in a small workshop in Somerset, inspired by a family vacation by the water. Using a hollow construction technique, our boards feature ribs and are skinned with lightweight paulownia wood and cedar strips, aiming to be the lightest timber paddleboards available.

Ben Stephens
His first creation – a nest of tables made for his grandparents' wedding anniversary – ignited a lifelong passion for carpentry. Influenced by a local woodworking mentor, Ben spent his youth mastering the art of bespoke furniture making, dedicating evenings and weekends to honing his skills.Today, with over 30 years of experience in carpentry and joinery, Ben channels his expertise and passion into every B board he creates. From the precise selection of materials to the meticulous finishing touches, Ben’s dedication ensures that each paddle board is as beautiful as it is functional. His journey, from a young boy captivated by woodworking to a master craftsman, is the essence of what makes B boards truly unique.

About the Boards

The Arrow board is designed for versatility and stability, making it suitable for various conditions such as rivers, canals, and beach surf – “a great all-rounder”. It can accommodate riders up to 95kg (15 stone). All boards are customizable in design and appearance, with options to add or remove grip decks as desired. Additionally, a bungee cord can be added to the front for securing light essentials. Graphics, including logos and pictures, can also be incorporated upon request.The boards, primarily made from paulownia timber, making them as lightweight as possible. Paulownia timber is lightweight and strong, sourced from sustainable forests. Paulownia plantations capture large amounts of CO2, benefiting the environment. It is naturally water-resistant and highly stable, complemented by the Canadian red cedar incorporated within the boards. The two-part varnish protects epoxy resin from UV rays and contaminants. As the boards are used, they will inevitably get some scratches or scrapes. This is not a problem, as they can be lightly sanded and given a fresh coat of varnish for the following season. Please inquire for details about this service.A standard 250mm centre us fin box is fitted to accommodate a fin of your choice. Thruster fins can be added if desired. All boards feature a leash fixing point and an automatic Gore-Tex air vent to equalise internal air pressure.
